Passports and Visas
It is important that you make sure you are aware of entry requirements for the country you’re visiting, both when you book and before you travel. You could do this through a third party website like www.cibt.com who offer a chargeable service to arrange visas for those who require them.
What is a visa?
A visa indicates you are allowed to enter, leave or visit a country for purposes such as tourism and work. Different countries around the world have different entry requirements for British citizens and some will require you to get a visa before you visit.
Do I need a visa to visit Europe?
While the UK retains passport controls and sits outside of the border-free Schengen Area, UK citizens are currently able to travel freely within the EU and citizens only experience basic border checks entering the UK, and vice versa.
How often do I need to renew my passport?
A passport is valid for 10 years. However, many countries outside the EU require six months’ validity on passports from the date of the return to the UK, so it is vital to take this into account when checking passport expiry dates. We suggest that you should have three months validity to enter another EU country. You are advised to renew their passports early to avoid any last minute panics. The current standard charge to renew an adult passport is £72.50.
