When you’re back from a day’s skiing, head to the hotel’s wellness centre to enjoy some pampering – whether that’s easing aching muscles in the Jacuzzi or curling up with a good book on a chaise lounge.

The 23 en-suite rooms are all spacious and comfortable, mixing alpine charm with a few mod cons. If you need more space or just want to splash out, there are two suites, one that caters for up to five people and has beautiful garden views and a hydro-massage bath.

The warm welcome at Hotel Le Rocher is matched by its excellent cuisine. The chefs prepare a daily buffet of antipasti and vegetables, followed by traditional Italian cuisine, served in the bright and stylish dining room. Afterwards enjoy a glass of wine from the local Aosta Valley in the bar and chat with friends, family and fellow skiers in front of a glowing fire.

We loved hotel Le Rocher. This was our second stay in Champoluc, last year we stayed at Hotel Castor but we reckon this is definitely up a notch. The food is amazing, a vast array to choose from at breakfast and the evening meals were delicious. Stefano deserves a special mention as the restaurant manager, great personality and a knowledge on their lovely wines.
There’s a lovely warm relaxed feel to the hotel, log fires, lots of little areas to sit in the evening. We fell in love with their little Jack Russell Stella, who provided amusement for our kids, and their lively young cat.
The hotel setting is beautiful, there’s a large garden area that runs into the trees, our kids loved playing out there and it was lovely to sit in the April sunshine after a day’s skiing.
A short walk from the main lift but we enjoyed the stroll through the trees to get there, much nicer than trekking through the streets of Champoluc. And you only have to ring for a ski2 minibus and they’re there instantly.
Lovely hotel in a quiet area, we’d definitely stay again. But we might bring our own travel kettle!

  2. Chris Jones on

Just brilliant! This was my 7th holiday in Champoluc, each one in different hotels. Le Rocher was up there with the best of them! Wonderful friendly staff. Stefano in particular was superb. I enjoy my wine and all the staff were very knowledgeable about the local wines on their list and able to guide me appropriately. The Aosta Fumin was particularly good AND much better value than hotels in the UK! Bedroom was comfortable with nice hot shower. Food was prolific! We had to curtail our eating by the end of the week as there was vast quantities! Buffet was really good, starters and main courses excellent. A lot of the dishes are traditionally local. If you really felt you had eaten too much there was always an option of a simple pasta dish or omelette. One minor issue was coffee with breakfast which tasted like instant coffee in a jug! I LOVE coffee, especially Italian coffee. In the mountain restaurants the coffee was universally good. We discovered an espresso machine in the bar at the end of the week so maybe if I had asked…….! For those dog lovers, there are two delightful well-behaved hotel dogs that always wanted to be played with! Hotel provided a lift to Frachay one morning when Ski2 were delayed. Very helpful. A brilliant hotel in a lovely location. It’s position halfway between Champoluc and Frachay however did require a lift each morning and evening.

  3. James Farquharson on

We have stayed at four different hotels in Champoluc and each has its own attraction. However we particularly liked Le Rocher, for a family the location is great, its an easy walk into the town, the food is really good and plenty of it, the rooms are clean and comfortable and whilst not huge perfectly big enough. The staff are all friendly (though that’s true in all the hotels we’ve been to) and the service is excellent. It has a particularly comfortable lounge area, we had visitors from another hotel who were very complimentary.
All in all its a really nice hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were excellent, very efficient and made us feel very welcome. It is in a beautiful location in the forest that has a great walk into town. The hotel offered a free lift into town each morning so we could get to the ski lift. It was great to get back after skiing and relax in front of the fire. The food was delicious and plentiful. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a family base.

Our second stay at Le Rocher, this time with our son.

We had a great time and the staff and owners were very friendly and happy to help. They were very wiling to organise early dinners for our 5 yr old which always went down well.

The 10 minute walk to the ski deposit through the forest with wood sculptures served to loosen muscles each morning and give a nice wind down time each evening.

Getting back for an aperitif in the seats by the fire was a highlight each day.

Our 2nd stay at Le Rocher, just as great as our 1st. All the staff are so kind and were a huge help with our 20 month old daughter. They provided supper earlier for her, helped with cleaning her cups/bib/cutlery etc. It couldn’t have been easier for us.
The meals are delicious, great selection of wines and always a friendly atmosphere. Thank you Charlotta and Guilio!

  7. Alastair Shires on

We had a great stay at Le Rocher. The staff could not have been more helpful and our family room was perfect in size for the four of us. The food was great and they were very accommodating with the kids meal times. The perfect location for an après ski drink as the kids played in the garden. Le Rocher is in our eyes highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel. A warm welcome, good service and excellent food. I stayed here the last week of Easter for the first time and found it very comfortable and cosy. The dining room staff are lovely and friendly. 4 course meal every night, so it is just as well I skied a lot. My only comment would be to add a rug or something to the room. I was near the lift and because the floors are laminate, you can really hear people walking around.

That said, I would definitely recommend Hotel Le Rocher and will be back! Thank you.

We had a lovely week at Le Rocher at the end of the March. The rooms were comfortable, the staff very welcoming and the bar a great place to relax in at the end of the day. The distance from the lift was not a problem with all of the family walking both there and back each day without complaint ! We are looking forward to returning in 2015.

Excellent hotel. It is in a lovely spot – just a 10 minute walk from the lifts and a nice snow covered path to stroll through (as mentioned perfect for snowball contests!). Stayed here with my 3 year old son on his first ski trip and the staff couldn’t have been better. They arranged for earlier meals and were always accommodating with any requests we made. The food was very good (for both of us) and the service quality was very high. Would certainly recommend Le Rocher as a family base for Champoluc

We had a wonderful stay at Le Rocher. It’s the perfect distance from the lifts with a lovely walk through the park to get warmed up in the morning or to wind down with a snowball fight in the evening.

Lotta, Giulio, Fulvia and the dining room team couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. We had a great time and Hattie is planning her return for next year already.

  12. Linda Millward on

Wonderful hotel, staff very efficient and welcoming.

Good size rooms and bathroom, I would have liked bedside mat, hard floors, a bit of luxury for us old uns.

As most of the winter it was very cold, but we had a wonderful time again in Champoluc, our 5th time.

  13. Maryanne Jenkins on

We had a fantastic stay at Le Rocher. This was our first holiday abroad with our 8 month old daughter and the team at Le Rocher could not have been more accommodating. We stayed in room 302 which was the perfect amount or space for us. The food is delicious, a lovely varied menu, great atmosphere and an easy walk/short minibus journey to the village. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our holiday go so smoothly!
