Our British Ski School

Run by skiers for skiers, our acclaimed British Ski and Snowboard School in Champoluc is exclusive to Ski 2 clients. We’ve carefully developed our programme so we can offer something for everyone, whether it’s enhancing existing skills or learning exciting new ones.

Our Ski School is managed by Simon Brown, co-owner of Ski 2 and a resident in Italy for the winter months. Simon is a British Association of Ski Instructors (BASI) Level 4 ISTD Ski Teacher and has taught skiing around the world for over 30 years.

We focus on continuously developing our knowledge and skills so that your skiing experience with us will leave you with a smile on your face. We’ve tested and reviewed some of the latest equipment on behalf of the Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard magazine so we’re always able to offer you advice and assistance whether you’re new to skiing or if you want something to push you out of your comfort zone.

Our Ski Instructors

Our instructor’s experience and enthusiasm for skiing, coupled with their ability to provide a safe and fun learning environment, will ensure you have a fantastic learning experience if you’re a novice recreational skier or an expert off-piste rider.

Whatever your age or ability our friendly, patient and professional staff will help you ‘improve on the move’. We believe skiing is best taught by doing it, rather than spending hours side-stepping up and down on the same piste.

We employ British Association of Ski Instructors (BASI) qualified ski teachers, some of whom live in Champoluc for the winter, and enhance this with local English-speaking Italian ‘maestri’ who are native to Champoluc and have unrivalled knowledge of the vast ski area.

Child Lesson Prices for Winter 2016/2017

Having a British Ski School was really important to us, especially when it came to offering children a comfortable learning environment. Our child lessons are exclusive to Ski 2 clients and our groups are usually no larger than 10 per instructor which allows us to get to know your children and give them lots of attention (they’ll be better skiers than you by the time they leave!)

We allocate our groups according to age and ability as this helps children to learn at their own pace and allows our instructors to be able to tailor the lessons for the ability level.

Our group lessons start on a Monday and need to be pre-booked and paid for prior to departure. If you’re arriving mid-week or for a short break, you would need to take private ski lessons which we will happily arrange for you.

    • Lessons begin at 10am and finish at 3pm

We know that young children sometimes find it difficult to take on long lessons, so if you think your child might be unable to manage then give us a call on 01962 713330 before booking so that we can chat to you about your individual requirements.

Private Ski or Snowboard Lessons for Children

If you’re looking to improve your child’s skiing, we always recommend private lessons as the best way to achieve results. With an excellent instructor to pupil ratio, we understand that our prices for this service are among the most competitive in the Alps.

Private ski lessons booked by the hour can only be taken between 0900 and 1000 hours or after 1300 hours, 7 days a week.

    • 1 person to 1 instructor – £44 per hour
    • 2 people to 1 instructor – £49 per hour
    • 3 people to 1 instructor – £54 per hour
    • 4 people to 1 instructor – £59 per hour
    • 5 people to 1 instructor – £64 per hour

Private Ski or Snowboard Lessons for Children (booked as a block of 10 hours)

Available only as a 10 hour package taken between 1000 and 1300 hours, you choose the times of your lessons and the number of hours a day (up to 10 hours in total). Just £499 per instructor. Additional hours, over and above the 10 hours, can be purchased at the hourly rate shown above.

We like to be as flexible as we can so that you get the most out of your lessons. Some of our small groups and families like to book three hours with a private instructor and split the lesson between ability levels. This way both beginners and experienced skiers get the benefit of a private lesson, but with the three hours split into 90 minutes for each ability level. Our instructors are happy to alter your schedule every day to suit snow conditions and group requirements. We’d recommend that this is the best way to have fun with your family and friends while getting the most out of your private tuition and small group sizes.

We ask that 10 hour lesson packages always start on the hour and not on the half hour, but other than this slight restriction, you can choose the hours that you would like to take these lessons.

  • Ski 2 Racing Courses

    Ski 2 Racing Courses

We run Ski 2 Racing Classes on selected weeks, aimed at youngsters who can ski very strong parallel. Each course combines a combination of fast free skiing, skills and technique and some race training around poles and is open to those aged 9 and above. Our race courses are run by local Italian race coaches, who have excellent English and a proven record in training children to international race standard. If you’re looking for an opportunity to develop your child’s ability and experience with expert tuition then our courses are not to be missed.

    • Monday to Saturday (inclusive)
    • 10am – 3pm (including lunchtime supervision)
    • £199 per person

If your child would like to take part then we ask that you pre-book and pre-pay with us before you leave for Champoluc. Because of the difficulty level of the course we do complete an assessment of ability on the first morning and if we can’t take your child on the course, they will be able to ski with our Kids’ Ski School and you’ll be offered a refund of the difference in price.
Our Ski 2 Racing Courses run on the following dates:

    • Monday 13th February 2017
    • Monday 27th March 2017
    • Monday 3rd April 2017
    • Monday 10th April 2017

Adult Lesson Prices for Winter 2016/2017

Exclusive to Ski 2 clients, our British Ski School offers adult ski lessons that are a great way to learn and improve without large class numbers. Only a small number of our adult skiers choose to take group lessons so we’re able to offer small classes that are tailored to your ability level. As long as we have a minimum of five people per ability group then we can offer adult group lessons, if we can’t then you’ll be offered private lessons up to the value of the cost shown here – so you really can’t lose.

How Do I Choose?

Our beginner group lessons are aimed at people who have little or no ski experience on snow and are unable to perform linked snowplough turns. They might be apprehensive skiers who may have skied before but didn’t achieve as much as they wanted, or someone who has skied on artificial ski slopes but never on snow.

Intermediate or advanced skiers should be able to ski confidently on a blue run doing linked turns as a minimum. Although we offer the same lesson options for adults and children, we group each class according to age and skiing ability wherever possible. The definition of a beginner, intermediate or advanced skier is the same for adults and children.

We reserve the right to determine the skiing standard of people booked in to our ski school for your safety and we allocate a class level based on this. In the unlikely event that there isn’t an appropriate class available, we will refund your money in full, or allocate a period of private lessons agreed by you.
