Our British Ski School
Run by skiers for skiers, our acclaimed British Ski and Snowboard School in Champoluc is exclusive to Ski 2 clients (clients booked with other tour operators or direct with a hotel should contact the local Italian ski school). We’ve carefully developed our programme so we can offer something for everyone, whether it’s enhancing existing skills or learning exciting new ones.
Our customers love the service that we provide and many of our regular clients claim that our ski school is one of the top reasons that they travel with us year after year. See what some of them have to say down the right hand side of this page.
Our Ski School is managed by Simon Brown, co-owner of Ski 2 and a resident in Italy for the winter months. Simon is a British Association of Ski Instructors (BASI) Level 4 ISTD Ski Teacher and has taught skiing around the world for over 30 years.
We focus on continuously developing our knowledge and skills so that your skiing experience with us will leave you with a smile on your face. We’ve tested and reviewed some of the latest equipment on behalf of the Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard magazine so we’re always able to offer you advice and assistance whether you’re new to skiing or if you want something to push you out of your comfort zone.
A new addition from 2018 is John Arnold, who like Simon, is a BASI ISTD Level 4, the highest international ski teacher’s qualification there is. John has vast experience in training ski teachers, off- piste skiing and helping skiers to build confidence and think less. John can be booked by the day or more throughout the season. Our Ski Instructors
Our instructor’s experience and enthusiasm for skiing, coupled with their ability to provide a safe and fun learning environment, will ensure you have a fantastic learning experience if you’re a novice recreational skier or an expert off-piste rider.
Whatever your age or ability our friendly, patient and professional staff will help you ‘improve on the move’. We believe skiing is best taught by doing it, rather than spending hours side-stepping up and down on the same piste.
We employ British Association of Ski Instructors (BASI) qualified ski teachers, some of whom live in Champoluc for the winter, and enhance this with local English-speaking Italian ‘maestri’ who are native to Champoluc and have unrivalled knowledge of the vast ski area.
“Ski 2 has everything covered for a first-timer’s snow sports holiday, from tuition and equipment hire to lift passes and lunches. Based in Champoluc, part of the large Monterosa ski area in Italy, the operator runs a British ski school exclusively for guests and has its own ski and snowboard hire.”

Child Lesson Prices for Winter 2018/2019
Having a British Ski School was really important to us, especially when it came to offering children a comfortable learning environment. Our child lessons are exclusive to Ski 2 clients and our groups are usually no larger than 10 per instructor which allows us to get to know your children and give them lots of attention (they’ll be better skiers than you by the time they leave!)
We allocate our groups according to age and ability as this helps children to learn at their own pace and allows our instructors to be able to tailor the lessons for the ability level.
Our Kids Ski School lessons start on Monday and need to be pre-booked and paid for prior to departure. For those arriving on a Saturday in resort, we do now offer Sunday ski school for our younger guests who have booked our Kids Ski School for the duration of their holiday. This lessons runs from 1000 to 1500 hours, but those taking part are likely to be reassessed on the Monday morning (when other guests arrive) and may therefore be allocated a different ski instructor for the duration of their holiday.
If you’re arriving mid-week or for a short break, you would need to take private ski lessons which we will happily arrange for you.
Adult Lesson Prices for Winter 2018/2019
Exclusive to Ski 2 clients, our British Ski School offers adult ski lessons that are a great way to learn and improve without large class numbers. Only a small number of our adult skiers choose to take group lessons so we’re able to offer small classes that are tailored to your ability level. As long as we have a minimum of five people per ability group then we can offer adult group lessons, if we can’t then you’ll be offered private lessons up to the value of the cost shown here – so you really can’t lose.
How Do I Choose?
Our beginner group lessons are aimed at people who have little or no ski experience on snow and are unable to perform linked snowplough turns. They might be apprehensive skiers who may have skied before but didn’t achieve as much as they wanted, or someone who has skied on artificial ski slopes but never on snow.
Intermediate or advanced skiers should be able to ski confidently on a blue run doing linked turns as a minimum. Although we offer the same lesson options for adults and children, we group each class according to age and skiing ability wherever possible. The definition of a beginner, intermediate or advanced skier is the same for adults and children.
We reserve the right to determine the skiing standard of people booked in to our ski school for your safety and we allocate a class level based on this. In the unlikely event that there isn’t an appropriate class available, we will refund your money in full, or allocate a period of private lessons agreed by you.
You can find out more by looking at our Ability Levels page or you can call us at the UK Ski 2 office on 01962 713330 to tell us what you need and we’ll arrange the perfect instruction package for you and your group. We also offer tuition in snowboarding, snow-blading, off-piste skiing, racing or heli-skiing. Whether you’re looking for something unusual or just want to improve a particular aspect of your ski technique we can help.
What is the average number of pupils per instructor in your classes? Last year, our average class size in our Kids Ski School was 7. In our adult group lessons this average was 9.
How many different classes do you run on a busy week? On peak weeks we might have up to 20 classes in our Kids Ski School, meaning there is always an appropriate class for every youngster
Is 5 hours a day too long for youngsters in group ski school? Our Kids Ski School operates from 1000 to 1500 hours. This generally is 4 hours of lessons, with an hour’s break for lunch at one of the mountain restaurants (lunch is included in all Ski 2 holidays).
Where do ski lessons start and finish? All Ski 2 lessons, unless arranged otherwise, start and finish at Crest, at the top of the main gondola up from Champoluc. This is at a height of 2,000 metres and overlooks the nursery slopes.
